Bad news about a music legend

At 89, legendary singer Johnny Mathis has announced his retirement due to age and worsening memory loss. His “Voice of Romance” tour will conclude with a final show on May 18 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. All performances scheduled after June 2025 have been canceled. Born in 1935 in Texas and raised in San Francisco, Mathis began singing professionally at 13 and became known for his smooth romantic ballads. Influenced by jazz greats like Duke Ellington, he remains one of America’s most cherished musical icons.
