Joe Biden Responds Sharply to President Trump’s Claim He Used an Autopen to Sign Executive Orders

Former President Joe Biden has denied Donald Trump’s claim that he used an autopen to sign key documents during his presidency. Trump alleged, without evidence, that Biden relied on the signature-replicating device for executive orders and official papers. In response, Biden told ABC News, “I made all decisions on pardons, executive orders, and legislation—any suggestion otherwise is false.” He dismissed Trump’s call for a mental fitness probe as a “distraction,” noting that autopen use is legal with presidential approval, as past leaders have done when unavailable.

The accusation marks a shift in Trump’s stance, contrasting his recent well-wishes after Biden’s cancer diagnosis. In June, Trump expressed sympathy, saying he and Melania were “saddened” and hoped for Biden’s “fast recovery.” The back-and-forth highlights ongoing tensions between the two as the 2024 election cycle intensifies.
