A couple in Ingram, Texas, survived a terrifying ordeal when historic flash floods destroyed their home on July 4, 2025. Doug and Elizabeth Fuller clung to a cedar post for four hours after their house collapsed around them. The couple had weathered past floods, but this one overwhelmed their home, sending furniture floating and forcing them to escape as water surged inside.
They were eventually rescued with minor injuries. Despite losing almost everything, including their home, Doug was relieved to find his favorite guitar unharmed. Elizabeth returned to work just days later, determined to rebuild.
The floods devastated central Texas, killing at least 50 people, including over 15 children. Communities are reeling but coming together. Local resident Virginia Inez Raper, who helped find the Fullers, shared a powerful message of resilience: “You can flood our homes, take our possessions… but as a community, we will be okay.”
