Legendary actor has passed away at age 79

Fans are mourning the loss of Rick Hurst, who passed away unexpectedly at 79. Best known as Deputy Cletus Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard, Hurst was set to appear at Cooter’s Place just days before his death.

Born in Houston in 1946, Hurst studied at Tulane and Temple before launching a successful acting career. He joined The Dukes of Hazzard in 1979, becoming a fan favorite for his humorous, heartfelt role. He also appeared in shows like Happy Days, MASH, and films like Steel Magnolias.

Hurst is survived by his wife, Candace Kaniecki, and son, actor Ryan Hurst. His legacy joins that of fellow Dukes stars Denver Pyle and James Best. As Deputy Cletus, Hurst left a lasting mark on TV history.
