A tragic case in Liverpool has reignited concerns over youth violence after teenage brothers Connor and Brandon Doran, along with friend Simon Evans, were convicted of killing Kevin Bennett, a vulnerable 53-year-old man experiencing homelessness.
On August 17, 2012, the boys launched a brutal 20-minute attack as Mr. Bennett slept behind a supermarket. Despite managing to stagger to the front of the store, he died six days later from his injuries.
Disturbingly, the violence runs deep in the Doran family. Older brother Ryan Doran was awaiting trial for a separate murder, their mother Linda was jailed for providing a false alibi, and another brother, Jordan, was convicted of contempt for taking photos in court. The case has shocked the community and highlighted the devastating consequences of generational violence.
