Guess Who?: This 60s Heartthrob and Former Bond Star Is Now 84 and Living Life on His Own Terms!

At just 29 years old, George Lazenby became the youngest actor to portray James Bond, starring in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. His overnight rise to global fame catapulted him into a glamorous and fast-paced lifestyle. Lazenby later admitted that the attention he received, especially from women, was overwhelming. Reflecting on the era, he credited the social climate of the 1960s—marked by less political correctness—for the ease with which women pursued him.

Despite cultivating a reputation as a ladies’ man, Lazenby settled down twice in his life. His first marriage was to Christina Townson Gannett, which lasted from 1971 to 1995, though he confessed he was living with four other women when they first met. In 2002, he married tennis star Pam Shriver, a relationship that ended in 2011. Lazenby remains close with Shriver and once revealed that she had gifted him a BMW on their fourth date—an extravagant symbol of their early connection.

Now in his 80s, Lazenby looks back on his life with a mix of humor and self-awareness. He describes himself as lucky, having gone from humble beginnings to becoming a multimillionaire. Though he still identifies as a “ladies’ man,” he candidly acknowledges being “a sexist one,” expressing controversial views about young women dating older men for financial reasons. Despite his bravado, he also admits to moments of loneliness, which he often copes with by having a drink.

Beyond his public image, Lazenby treasures his role as a father and grandfather. With seven children, he considers them his greatest accomplishments, calling them the “real achievements” of his life. He maintains a close relationship with his children and tries not to be away from them for long, even when traveling. Now living in Santa Monica, he enjoys golf and spending quiet, meaningful time with his family.

Lazenby’s journey has also included deep personal tragedy. His son, Zachary, passed away at the age of 19 from a brain tumor—an experience that profoundly affected him. This loss has only strengthened his bond with his other children and grandchildren. While he continues to enjoy the company of friends and family as a single man, his story serves as a reminder that even for someone known for charm and celebrity, it is family and love that matter most.
