In August 2025, federal prosecutors indicted Georgia sheriff’s deputy Buck Aldridge on 13 counts, including five for civil rights violations and eight for falsifying records. The charges stem from incidents in 2021–2022 where Aldridge allegedly used excessive force—such as striking a restrained person and repeatedly using a Taser—and then filed false reports to cover his actions. Officials clarified the case is unrelated to his 2023 shooting of Leonard Cure, which first brought him national attention.
