Meta is replacing the old Vanish Mode with a new disappearing messages feature that notifies users whenever someone screenshots or records a temporary conversation. Vanish Mode once allowed messages to vanish after being viewed, but it has been discontinued in favor of this updated system, which appears gradually across accounts.
Zuckerberg demonstrated the feature in a playful exchange with his wife, showing how alerts appear instantly. Meta says the change strengthens privacy, giving people more awareness and control over how their messages are saved.
