MAGA Senator ‘accidentally’ attacks Melania and Barron Trump

Donald Trump is hardening his stance on immigration, and so are many senators and congressmen nd women. Now, Republican Senator Bernie Moreno plans on introducing a law that would end dual citizenship. However, this could strike back on two people living in the White House: Melania and Barron Trump.

On Monday, Republican Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio announced the introduction of new legislation. Speaking with Fox News, he shared that the bill would end dual citizenship by requiring citizens to declare “exclusive allegiance” to the United States of America.

“It was an honor to pledge an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America and only to the United States of America. Being an American citizen is an honor and a privilege — and if you want to be an American — it’s all or nothing,” he continued. “It’s time to end dual citizenship for good.”

Moreno’s bill is a part of Trump’s crackdown on US immigration. The current law allows Americans to hold dual citizenship, and doesn’t require a person to pledge allegiance to one country over the other.

However, Moreno’s legislation, the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, would require a person to choose the US as their sole citizenship, per the bill, creating “conflicts of interest and divided loyalties.”

Americans with dual citizenship would have one year after the enactment to either renounce their foreign citizenship or their US citizenship. If a person does not comply within the year, their US citizenship will be automatically revoked.

Many people would be affected by this, and two of those who would have to choose with the Republican Senator’s bill are actually Barron and Melania Trump. They both carry both US and Slovenian citizenship.

Barron, the youngest son of Donald Trump, has created a strong bond with his mother’s home country through the years, not least through his grandparents. When the boy was young, Barron actually spoke with a Slovenian accent.

Melania is the only first lady to become a naturalized U.S. citizen, as well as being the first one ever to have been born outside of the U.S. She obtained citizenship in July 2006 through an EB-1 visa, reserved for immigrants with “extraordinary ability” and “sustained national and international acclaim.”

Melania lost her mother, Amalija, last year. Last September, during a sit-down with Fox News, the first lady discussed her mother’s death, revealing that Amailja and Barron, his grandmother, had a very close relationship. Melania said her mother moved to the United States to be close to Barron.

“Her life was incredible in Slovenia,” Melania said. “Once Barron was born, he was her focus. It’s almost like she was a second mother, especially because of my schedule in the White House and being so busy. They had an incredible bond. Her and Barron, it was a relationship like no other,” Melania concluded.

Time will tell what happens. However, we can be pretty sure that Barron and Melania won’t give up their US citizenship if it comes to choosing.
