House Oversight Chair James Comer has referred former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to the Trump Justice Department for prosecution, accusing him of lying to Congress about COVID-19 nursing home deaths.
Comer has issued a new referral to the Biden DOJ, claiming a previous one was ignored. He accuses Andrew Cuomo of lying under oath about his role in a 2020 report that downplayed the impact of a directive requiring nursing homes to admit COVID-positive patients. Evidence shows Cuomo helped draft the report, despite his denial. A 2021 report by New York’s attorney general found nursing home deaths may have been undercounted by up to 50%.
