Teen Who Worked Burger King Shift In Graduation Gown Receives $130k In Donations

While most high school graduates were out celebrating, 18-year-old Mykale Baker chose a different path. Just hours after graduating from Mills Creek High School in Georgia, he showed up to work at his local Burger King—still wearing his graduation stole and medals.

Maria Mendoza, the mother of a fellow graduate, spotted Baker at the drive-thru around 10 PM on May 21 and was moved by his dedication. She snapped a photo and later shared a 20-second TikTok video that quickly went viral, racking up over 3.9 million views.
“While others celebrated, he quietly showed the world what determination looks like,” Mendoza wrote on GoFundMe.
