Vishwash Kumar Ramesh opened up about the moment he heard a ‘loud noise’ around 30 seconds after takeoff

The family of the British passenger who miraculously survived the horrific Air India plane crash earlier today (12 June) have now broken their silence.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh is among the 53 Britons believed to have been on board the doomed plane, which plummeted into a building shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, western India.

There were a total of 242 people on board, with police initially releasing an official statement suggesting there were ‘no survivors’ after the crash occured.

Yet, it has since been confirmed that one British man had miraculously survived the crash when he spoke of his terror of seeing pieces of the plane all around him.

Ramesh told the Hindustan Times about the moment the plane went down, claiming to have heard a ‘loud noise’ around 30 seconds after takeoff.

“It all happened so quickly,” he recalled, revealing he’d sustained ‘impact injuries’ on his chest, eyes and feet.

“When I got up, there were bodies all around me. I was scared. I stood up and ran,” he continued. “There were pieces of the plane all around me.

“Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance and brought me to the hospital.”

The BBC has since spoken to Ramesh’s relative, Ajay Valgi, in Leicester who revealed that the plane crash survivor previously called his family earlier to say he’s ‘fine’.

Ramesh, who has a wife and child, reportedly said that he doesn’t know the whereabouts of his brother, Ajay, who was also believed to be on board the plane.

“The BBC understands that he was born in India, but has lived in the UK for many years,” the outlet adds.

Ramesh’s brother, Nayankumar, has since added that Ramesh has ‘no idea’ how he escaped the plane.

Speaking outside his family home in Leicester, Nayankumar told the BBC: “We were just shocked as soon as we heard it”.

According to him, Ramesh told him after the crash: “I have no idea how I exited the plane.”

Ramesh ‘got some injuries on his face. He was pretty much covered in blood – that’s what his dad said’, Jay added.
