Japan was rocked by a 5.5 magnitude earthquake today, just two days before the exact date a ‘prophet’ predicted a natural disaster would hit.
The quake struck off the coast of the Tokara island chain, some 745 miles from Tokyo, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5.
Despite the earthquake, the agency has said that a tsunami warning has not been issued.
A major natural event had been prophesised by manga artist Ryo Tatsuki, whose chilling predictions have seen her compared to Bulgarian doom prophet Baba Vanga.
A novel released by the artist, based on her ‘prophetic dreams’, said there would be a natural disaster on July 5, 2025.
Her predictions have left to a drop in flight bookings in Japan.
Thursday’s quake hit at a depth of 12 miles, giving it a seismic intensity of ‘6 lower’ on Japan’s 1-7 scale on Akuseki Island, the country’s Meteorological Agency said.
Authorities have now urged residents to evacuate to ‘a school playground’, according to AFP.
