The Strange Pink Blob on My Wall
One morning, before my coffee, I noticed something odd in my kitchen—a dry, pinkish blob stuck where the wall met the cabinet. It didn’t move or smell, but clearly didn’t belong. Curious and a little concerned, I posted a photo online.
Theories came in quickly: insulation foam, old caulk, bug eggs, or even mold. Most people said: don’t touch it. I called my landlord, who showed up with a disinfectant wipe. He quickly wiped it off, called it “probably sealing foam,” and left. That was it—no inspection, no explanation. But I wasn’t convinced.
After some research and feedback, the most likely explanations were:
- Expanding foam insulation that had leaked out
- Aging caulk or sealant
- Possible mold or fungal growth
- Or residue from previous repairs
Whatever it was, it taught me some important lessons:
- Don’t touch unknown substances barehanded
- Always take photos for reference
- Check for cracks, leaks, or moisture nearby
- Call a professional if it comes back
- Test for mold if you’re unsure
In the end, it might have been harmless—but in a home, even small mysteries are worth investigating. I’m still keeping an eye on that corner, just in case.
