After a powerful earthquake struck Mexico, survivors near the epicenter camped in a field, fearing aftershocks in their damaged homes. Tragedy struck again when a military helicopter carrying officials crashed while trying to land in Jamiltepec, Oaxaca, killing 14 people on the ground — including at least three children — and injuring 21 others. All officials aboard, including Interior Secretary Alfonso Navarrete and Oaxaca Governor Alejandro Murat, survived with minor injuries. The pilot lost control about 100 feet above ground. The Defense Secretary later apologized, taking full responsibility for the incident.
