President Donald Trump has authorized the U.S. military to use force against Latin American drug cartels designated as foreign terrorist organizations, including Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua, the Cartel de Los Soles, and MS-13, The New York Times reports. The order allows strikes on land and at sea, with Trump vowing to “completely destroy” cartel operations. Since returning to office, he has tightened trade measures on Canada and Mexico, ramped up deportations of suspected gang members, and pledged to give seized cartel assets to families affected by violent crime.
