Princess Anne Stuns Fans at 75 with First Hairstyle Change in 50 Years!: What Does She Look Like?

As Princess Anne approaches her 75th birthday, a new formal portrait of the Princess Royal has captured public attention. Shared on Instagram by royal photographer Chris Jackson, the image features Anne alongside her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, at Windsor Castle. In the portrait, Anne sports a chic chignon, a departure from her signature bouffant, complemented by a diamond tiara and ceremonial sash. Fans praised the elegant look, noting her resemblance to her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and describing the photo as “beautiful” and striking.

Anne’s hairstyles have long fascinated the public. In a 2020 documentary, she revealed that her famous updo only took “10 or 15 minutes” to style, a stark contrast to the hours actress Erin Doherty spent recreating it for The Crown. Show hair designer Cate Hall explained that a custom “ladder wig” was used to achieve the volume and structure of the royal hairstyle, emphasizing its role as a form of self-expression within Anne’s highly disciplined upbringing.

The Princess Royal’s dedication to her duties remains unwavering. In a recent interview, she dismissed the notion of retirement, stating, “I don’t think there’s a retirement programme on this particular life.” Known for her quick wit and grounded personality, Anne once humorously responded to a child who remarked, “You don’t look like a princess,” by saying, “Thank goodness for that, I’m so pleased to hear that.” Her humor and humility continue to endear her to the public.

Anne’s resilience was particularly evident after a serious horse-riding accident in June 2024, which resulted in a concussion and temporary memory loss. Despite a five-night hospital stay, she attended her first public engagement weeks later at a Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) event. Social media users noted a visible dark bruise on her face, yet many expressed admiration for her determination, praising her as “fabulous” and inspired by her speedy return to duty.

At the RDA event, shortened to accommodate her recovery, Anne engaged warmly with attendees, demonstrating her commitment as a long-time patron and president of the charity. Her dedication, even after a significant injury, highlighted her love for horses and refusal to be sidelined. As she nears 75, Princess Anne continues to embody resilience, wit, and a steadfast devotion to public service, securing her place as one of the most respected figures in the royal family.
