Authorities said Sunday that Tyler Robinson, 22, the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing, is under “special watch” in the Utah County Jail pending a mental health evaluation.
Robinson is being closely monitored after officials flagged concerns about suicidal remarks he made during his arrest. Once evaluated, he’ll undergo the classification process to determine his housing assignment, with continued monitoring by medical and custody staff.
Robinson is accused of fatally shooting Kirk, 31, during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. He was captured after a 33-hour manhunt, when his father identified him in FBI-released surveillance images and turned him in.
