Newly declassified FBI interview records allege that Senator Adam Schiff approved leaks of classified information during the Trump–Russia investigation. A Democratic whistleblower who worked for the House Intelligence Committee told the FBI between 2017 and 2023 that Schiff authorized the leaks to politically damage Donald Trump, possibly using Rep. Eric Swalwell as an intermediary. The whistleblower also claimed Schiff expected to become CIA Director under Hillary Clinton and continued anti-Trump efforts after her loss. Despite repeated reports, the Justice Department showed little interest, and the whistleblower was later fired. Journalist Paul Sperry suggested the leaks went to Washington Post reporter Ellen Nakashima. Schiff’s office has not commented.
