New polling shows a major drop in public confidence in President Donald Trump. A CNN/SSRS survey from October 27–30 finds his approval at 37%, down from 47% in February, with 63% disapproving. Americans are increasingly pessimistic about the country: 68% say things are going badly, driven by rising prices and household costs. The economy and cost of living are the top concerns for 47% of respondents, followed by worries about U.S. democracy. Majorities say Trump’s policies have worsened conditions, and many voters plan to use the midterms to oppose him.
