My son agrees that I can go on his honeymoon, but my daughter-in-law wants me to leave.

“My name is Carol. My son just got married, and he and his wife were making plans for their honeymoon. As an idea, I chose to go on their special trip with them. My son told me he would enjoy it. “But it looked like my daughter-in-law didn’t want me to be there,” the mother-in-law told us.

I came up with the idea on the spot one day, with a smile on my face and a lot of excitement in my heart. “Mark, sweetheart, how about bringing your dear old mom with you on your honeymoon?” It looks like a lot of fun!”

Mark, to my surprise, thought about it. He looked at Jane and asked, “Jane won’t mind, will you, sweetheart?”

Jane did not want me to be there at all.

Jane smiled hesitantly and said, “Well, it’s not exactly what I had in mind, but if it makes Mark happy, I guess it’s okay.”

So, the three of us set out for the beautiful beach town that promised love and happiness. I had no idea that my impulsive choice would turn their dream honeymoon into a story with lots of twists I didn’t see coming.

As we looked around the cute town, Jane’s sadness couldn’t be hidden.
My desire to be a part of everything, from romantic dinners to trips that were good for the whole family, started to get in the way of the newlyweds’ private moments.

One night, Jane went up to Mark and told him how she felt. “Mark, I’m glad your mom is with us, but I liked having some alone time on our honeymoon.” I want it to be unique and just for us.”

Mark came up to me to talk about it because he is a good son. “On our honeymoon, Mom, Jane, and I wanted to have some alone time.” I hope you get it.”

It hurt a little, but I agreed. I chose to go explore the town by myself to give them the space they needed. It was hard to decide how to feel when we got together for a farewell dinner the next day. Jane had a hard time appreciating all the work I had put into making their honeymoon special while I tried to hide my sadness with a fake smile.

When we got back home, the honeymoon became a story to tell, but not in the way that any of us had planned. Our relationship got worse because of what I didn’t mean to happen. Now, could you explain what I can do?
