The incident was reported as a suspected suicide by the City and County of Honolulu Dept. of the Medical Examiner.

The family shared the news through a statement to Metro. They expressed their deep sadness and sorrow over the loss of Hudson. Madsen later shared details about his son’s death in a statement published by The Los Angeles Times.

The 64-year-old actor expressed his shock when he found out that his son, whom he had recently spoken to, was happy. The actor recalled his last text from his son, which said, “I love you dad.”

He mentioned that he didn’t notice any signs of depression. He finds the situation tragic and sad. He’s trying to understand and make sense of everything. He mentioned that the person faced common challenges with money, but he had dreams of starting a family. It’s hard for him to comprehend what happened.
Madsen thinks his son had a hard time in the army and was made fun of for seeking therapy for his mental health problems. Hudson was deployed to Afghanistan from August 2018 to January 2019 while based at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Hudson was married to his wife Carlie, and based on their social media, they resided in Hawaii. Madse mentioned that his late son’s marriage “was doing well.”
