Jack, a wealthy man known for his kindness, had every reason to be happy. Yet, just three months ago, his world was turned upside down when he discovered his wife was cheating on him with his best friend. Heartbroken, Jack divorced her and watched as she moved to another state with the man he once trusted the most.

Jack trained Ralph to behave impeccably. The dog enjoyed running freely in the backyard in the afternoons, always returning home after a while. But one evening, Ralph didn’t come back as usual. Concerned, Jack stepped outside to call for him.

Hearing Ralph’s barking in the distance, Jack followed the sound, climbing over the fence to find him. To his shock, Ralph was standing protectively beside a baby lying in a basket on the grass.

“You poor child,” Jack said softly, his heart breaking at the sight of the abandoned baby. He searched the area for any belongings or clues but found nothing aside from a handwritten note tucked inside the basket:

“Don’t look for her parents. This child is yours now. Take care of her.”

Without hesitation, Jack scooped up the baby and took her to a nearby store, purchasing diapers and formula to care for her properly. Back at home, he fed and changed the infant before calling the police to report the incident.

“This baby was left on the street with nothing but the clothes on her back,” Jack explained. “There were no adults nearby, so I brought her home.”

The police assured Jack they would check local CCTV footage to locate the baby’s parents. However, they also mentioned the child would need a foster family in the meantime.

“Can I become her guardian?” Jack asked without a second thought. “I work from home, so I’ll have no problem taking care of her.”

After verifying Jack’s identity and home situation, the police agreed to let the baby stay with him temporarily. Over the next few months, Jack devoted himself to her care. When the authorities concluded that her parents could not be found, the baby was put up for adoption.

Wasting no time, Jack filed the necessary paperwork to adopt the little girl legally. He named her Emily, after his mother, who had raised him as a single parent.

Jack embraced his role as a father wholeheartedly. Emily became the center of his world, and the bond between them grew stronger with each passing day. They spent time playing in the park, eating ice cream, and even visiting the arcade, cherishing every moment together.

When Emily turned seven, she started school, where teachers and other parents often remarked on how much she resembled Jack. Friends and acquaintances joked that they looked like twins, a comment Jack accepted with a warm smile, though he never thought much of it.

One day, while Emily was playing with Ralph in the backyard, she tripped and scratched her head. As Jack tended to her wound, he noticed something remarkable—a birthmark on her scalp identical to his own.

“Would you look at that, sweetheart? We have the same birthmark!” he exclaimed, stunned by the discovery.

Emily wiped her tears and smiled. “We were always meant to be together, Dad.”

Curious about the coincidence, Jack decided to conduct a DNA test. Weeks later, the results arrived, revealing a 99.9% match. Emily was, in fact, his biological daughter.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Jack realized that his ex-wife had been pregnant with his child when she left. He called her to confirm the truth.

“What do you want, Jack?” she asked coldly.

“Why didn’t you tell me we had a daughter?” he demanded.

“I didn’t want to raise your child, nor did I want to see you ever again. I knew you’d find her eventually,” she said dismissively before ending the call.

Jack was heartbroken but also grateful. Emily’s biological connection didn’t change his love for her, but knowing she was truly his daughter deepened their bond.

“Are you okay, Dad?” Emily asked, noticing his tears.

“Yes, sweetheart. I’m just happy,” Jack replied, hugging her tightly.

A few years later, Jack found love again. While attending one of Emily’s school events, he met her teacher, and their relationship blossomed. They married two years later, giving Emily a baby sister. Emily embraced her role as a big sister with pride, and Jack retired early to spend more time with his family.
