Shooting at Oglethorpe Mall leaves at least five injured after gunman opened fire in Savannah, Georgia

At least six people, including one juvenile, have been injured in a horror shooting outside a mall in Savannah, Georgia.

Police descended on the Oglethorpe Mall about 5.43pm amid reports that bullets were flying at terrified shoppers.

At least five ambulances were also rushed to the scene to treat six victims with varying injuries.

One person is in a critical condition, and at least four have been taken to nearby hospitals.

Police Chief Lenny Gunther later revealed an altercation broke out between two groups of people.

He clarified the shooting was not random and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Savannah Police Department said three people were shot, and at least one person suffered a medical emergency.

The shooting victims have been identified as two young adults and one juvenile.

The altercation reportedly started inside the mall before spilling out onto the streets.

Police worked quickly to evacuate the mall as Savannah locals were urged to avoid the area.

The International Association of Fire Fighters described the event as ‘an active and dangerous situation.’

‘Avoid the area at all costs. Updates will be provided when available,’ they said in a statement.

Police have since said there is no active threat to the area.

No arrests have been made at this stage, police said.
